I’d like to say that I’m an expert on this subject, but let’s be real… no one has it ALL figured out. It’s taken me a while to get to a place where I have found “balance” in my mom and work routine, but every day is completely different. Which you understand if you have kiddos! They’re unpredictable little beings.
The transition from working in an office Monday through Friday to working from home and having no daycare was….ROUGH. I wasn’t used to being distracted every 2 minutes while trying to complete a task, so I knew I had to figure out how to make this work. Luckily I work in an industry where I have a LOT of flexibility and can pretty much work whenever & wherever, but I also have deadlines and calls to hop on.
What’s the magic sauce? First off, give yourself some freakin’ grace! If you are a full-time working mom, part-time working mom, stay-at-home mom… you’re a ROCKSTAR. Don’t forget that – we all know how much of an emotional rollercoaster each day can be, and we need to breathe and give ourselves a pat on the back every once in a while.
So now that you got that out of the way, here are a couple of things that have worked for me.
- Get organized
- Make a daily/weekly schedule
- Plan out your goals
- Set aside PLAY time
- Take time for you
- Remember why you’re doing it all
You can do this! You just need to find what works best for YOU. We all live different lives, have different situations, kids, schedules, so add & eliminate as needed until you find your groove.
